chabot imageda Vinci Project press release: da Vinci Project announced August 5th 2004 as roll out date for its Ansari X PRIZE Spacecraft.

At an Ansari X PRIZE press conference in Los Angeles today, Brian Feeney team leader of the da Vinci Project announced that the Wild Fire Mark VI spacecraft will be unveiled at a public and media photo opportunity on Thursday August 5th 2004, at the Project’s Downsview Airport Hangar.

“We’re in our final drive for the Ansari X PRIZE”, said Brain Feeney. “The spacecraft is being rolled out and is ready for its final round of subsystems tests. About $500,000 dollars separates us from our own 60 day Ansari X PRIZE launch notice announcement. Our more than 600 volunteers from across Canada and around the world have dedicated the last 8 years of their lives, contributing over 150,000 man hours bringing us to the threshold of space.”
